Learn how to carefully and skillfully understand the New Testament
Ground yourself in the first-century wisdom of Jesus and his followers and explore how the early church wrestled with the challenges of their world as you wrestle with similar challenges in yours.
In the first half of this unit we'll study the big theological themes and salvation historical events of the New Testament and in the second half we'll dive into some individual books.

What to expect in class
We're a friendly bunch: students have mixed ministry and life experiences
There's 12 weekly classes if you're studying at the Diploma or Graduate level (6 for the MAC certificate), each class is 3 hours long with a couple of breaks
You can attend in person at ADM offices at Town Hall, Sydney or on Zoom
Classes are a mixture of upfront teaching, Q & A and small group work
Meet your lecturers
Dr Louise Gosbell
Louise holds Bachelor and Master of Theology (Honours) degrees. She also completed a PhD in Ancient History from Macquarie University (on physical and sensory disabilities in the gospels). Her thesis 'The Poor, the Crippled, the Blind, and the Lame' was published with Mohr Siebeck. She has gone on to publish articles extensively includingin the Routledge Handbook of Marginalization in the Bible and the Journal of Disability and Religion.
Dr Viv Cheung
Viv holds Bachelor and Master degrees in theology and a PHD from Moore Theological College with her thesis '“My People” by God's Sovereign Grace: The Calling Motif in Romans' focussing on Pauline theology of God's calling. She is a NT and Greek lecturer at Youth Works College.

How does this unit fit with MAC's wider courses ?
This course can be studied at 3 levels:
MAC Certificate level This is a perfect introduction to each topic. 12-16 class hours per unit, 6 units make up the course.
Diploma and Advanced Diploma level For those without an undergraduate degree wanting a course with a large breadth of units. These are courses of the Australia College of Theology: 0.5-1 yr full time, max 8 yrs part-time, 36 class hours per unit, 11-16 units per course.
Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma level Higher level assignments than diploma level. Requires a previous bachelors degree. These are courses of the Australian College of Theology: 0.5-1 yr full time, max 2-4 yrs part-time, 36 class hours per unit, 4-8 unit per course.
